Group A streptococcus is a common bacteria causing acute pharyngitis, tonsillitis, impetigo, and scarlet fever. Although these infections are more common in children, adults can still be affected. Strep A can be spread through close contact, coughing, sneezing or from a wound.

Early diagnosis and treatment will reduce the severity of symptoms and any further complications such as rheumatic fever and glomerulonephritis. The Strep A self-test facilitates an early diagnosis at the first sign of symptoms.
