Vitamin D is an essential nutrient needed for normal growth and development of bone in children. It contributes to the normal function of the immune system in children. New advise was issued from the Department of Health in October 2020 relating to vitamin D supplementation in children.

Children aged 1 to 4 years need 200 IU/5 microgram vitamin D supplement everyday from Halloween to St Patricks Day as they can't get enough vitamin D from the sun or their diets in these months.
